That takes the p*** about it's not his fault and it's the tiles
Dont give him another penny. By the looks of the recent pics you can see his heavy handed trowel dents.

He should have never fitted the amtico with the screed looking like that and for him to blame your old tiles then that tells you that this guy is the type that uses every other excuse than to take any blame himself.

Dont live with that, it needs sorting so either he comes back and sorts it then gets the rest of the money owing to him or you keep it and use it to pay for someone to come in and sort the issue as best as possible.

I'd be checking the whole job thoroughly before you decide your next move but not a chance should you settle for his excuse.

Is this guy someone who you know? Through a firm??

Have you tapped it with your knuckle to check for any hollow sounds?

Our builder has checked it now and checked it with a level. We ordered through a local reputable shop specialising in flooring.. These guys work for them. Shop man is directing us back to the fitters. My fear is that it cannot be fixed properly at all or if new level goes down it will be too high when it meets existing floor in 2 other rooms.
Thanks for giving me the confidence to know its not our fault about the floors. Guys were supposed to come and look at it with us Friday evening but cancelled and now we won't get to see them til Tuesday. More bad service!

Looks rough, I would guess a poor prep and screeding job. It should be possible to remove some boards and smooth the screed but its never going to be great. Do not hand anymore money over.
