Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the way things are at the moment. I use a fuel card, weekly prices set every Friday. This week the price is £1.65, but they have emailed and said the min increase next week will be by 20p. Running 5 vans we spent over £500 last week just on fuel, and the cost of living is massively increasing. Who will be increasing there rates, and when ? I have jobs priced, which I won`t be able to budge on, but I think there will have to be an increase. Will shops be paying there fitter more ?
Tell me about it, it's the topic of conversation these days I was waiting till after summer to put my rates up but with how fast the cost of living is rising I've had no choice to price job at rhe higher rate already and still managing to win them fingers crossed... I tell you what is pissing me off and that's the reps ringing you up telling you materials are going up again and again. I sell alot of the Sierra parquet because itsa affordable for alot more especially bigger areas and I knew that would be going up next and it is from 1st of April.. As for fuel I'm definitely noticing it more and seeing the lovely shell assistant more frequently atleast
Interesting discussion this week tbf, on my side of the fence it’s costing me almost 50% more to get anywhere with no chance of being able to earn more while doing it, I guess a day or two at home per week might be the only answer to balance the books. Filling the car up 4 times in 6 days over the past week has crippled me
i run 1 van, and did £600 in fuel in the last 30 days, of which i think i only worked maybe 15. i get 30mpg and at 60mph my vans costing me £15hr, thats more than most people even earn... the fuel price is high because of our governments taxes and the incompetently ridiculous US government who made the price of Oil skyrocket after going back on all the things trump had done to get the oil down to $35 a Barrel, of which it now sits at $110 a barrel. But hey, "orange man bad"
I run two vans, because i only need the sprinter maybe once a week and even with two lots of tax and insurance, with what i save on fuel, i was still around £500 a year better off,now it makes even more sense, i know most of you need a big van every day, but if you don't, it's definitely worth looking into the costs, my work is mostly local now, so my fuel costs aren't so bad, but i went from spending between £60 to £80 per week to around £30
