So, at least another 3 weeks of this lockdown announced today........ From what I have read, if your furloughed, you cant carry out any work for the company your furloughed from. But, you can take a second job, for a new employer and take the pay from that job, plus the 80% furlough money. Ive been waiting over a week for a courier to deliver here now, so I gave one of them a call about driving. The guy nearly ripped my arm off, so start tomorrow. Ive got my Hgv license also, but no cpc so that rules that out unless I do 35 hours training.
I’ve not furloughed myself but have everyone else. I’m still doing the odd job and doing my unit? Does that count as work as not earning money ?
I’m gonna have to furlough Matty I think. Can’t see this finishing anytime soon. Some jobs you can do as long as it’s safe and you keep your distances. Has a lift from hedlam today on essential/key workers that can go ahead Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m between a rock and a hard place. My wife can still work from home so that’s good. I’ve got a couple of empty houses but because the nursery’s are closed I’m being a full time Dad. Not that I don’t enjoy it but think if this goes any longer I’ll be working weekends for a while!
I think its any type of work, relating to the business, except directors dutys, filing accounts etc But, in all honesty who will know ? Ive also had to do a few work related things, but ive not profited from them. If your not available to answer e-mails & phone calls, and price jobs, how will things ever return.
I asked my accountant as I’ve been sat at home for nearly 4 weeks, should I furlough myself, his response was, if you take an order even over the phone than you can’t be furloughed.....so I’m working through it and hoping for enough orders to keep me afloat
Hi All, Anbody had any info or thoughts about after lockdown, I mainly work domestic work in peoples houses but concerned how this can be done safely, sometimes moving alot of furniture and uplifting old carpets seems a bit concerning. Obviously social distancing with customers will be a must. Any thoughts would be welcomed.
I think even after the restrictions are being lifted alot of domestic customers are going to be weary especially the older folk. I've got 3 customers now desperate for their works to be done that they want to vacate to the opposite end of the house or the annexe whilst I'm there....but I cant get the bloody materials. Materials I've paid for already cant be delivered by garrards either, I understand the whole social distancing etc but my point is if ive paid for goods then they should be released to me regardless.
Its going to be a total nightmare for both domestic and commercial. I think it will actually be impossible to maintain safe distance, and actually get any work completed. I have had new guidelines through from a housebuilder we work for. Around 70 pages. There are many issues with these. Only one operative in any property at any one time. But then when that person leaves will the whole property be cleaned ? Don`t think so. 2 people can be used to move heavy loads, but then these 2 people must not come into contact with any other persons on site. They must be segregated ! Start & finish time staggered, 6 point ppe mandatory, canteens limited, hand washing every 15 mins Thats just a few. With the new rules in place, I would estimate roughly a third, maybe less, of the work we would normally do in a day, would get completed. That would make it impossible to make any money. Im glad were not in the middle of any contracts, as there is going to be some serious problems ahead
1 man band here and I still think I'll struggle Few of my regular labourers I use have got a bit of work with an asian firm smashing walls down in houses and another fitter I sub work to is delivering food for a a few Just eats. .....me on the other hand is smashing a garage wall through with my head
Yes, I think it will be grim. I have heard that the furlough scheme may be extended to the start of September. On a brighter note, a hotel chain we started for before all this kicked off, have been in touch today. They block booked there hotels to the government, who have used them to house NHS staff, and the homeless. The ones that have the homeless in have basically been smashed to bits, and will need a refurb before they can be re-let. Ive also had tenders for 150 new build units, some enabling works on a large site, and a transport depot. So, some wheels are still turning. Difficult to price for wen you don`t know what the working conditions will now entail.
