It occurred to me that i might come across as overly critical of some fitters and some people may think it's because i think I'm better than everyone else, i assure you this isn't the case, so to amuse or horrify you, i thought I'd show you some examples of what i have to deal with. If you do your screed badly and feather isn't any better, at least you can rely on some folded up double sided tape t
This is just small example of the kind of work some fitters are producing, there are loads more, like decoraters caulk to fill in gaps between white planks and cushionfloor fitted on gripper, these guys are still out there, doing this kind of work and taking work from decent fitters and generally giving the trade a bad name
Total disregard for any standards. Unfortunately you can walk out of space ship and call yourself a Floorlayer.
Big part of the problem is, you give people prices for a proper job and they look at you like you're mad. Then these jokers come in at half the price and that's what you get.
Unfortunately, these jokers are in all the markets, which lower the price due to the low quality, and people think that they are doing the same thing as they were told with the high price.
It sounds like you've encountered some interesting situations in your line of work! Dealing with unconventional solutions can certainly be challenging. Whether it's improvising with double-sided tape or finding creative ways to make things work, sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. It's all part of the job, and being able to adapt and problem-solve is a valuable skill. If you have any more examples or stories to share, I'd love to hear them!
