We had laminate laid a week ago and some of it had to come up a week later to repair a “dip” looking at the underlay most of it has now turned to crumble and powdery not sticking to the underlay. It could easily be vacuumed up.

mill try and post a video but not sure if I can

Do you know what underlay it is,is it a green fibre board or a rubber crumb with foil on top or something else?

    Hi
    Thank you for your response.
It’s a gold covered black rubber substance. Some of it is crumbling like powder and flaking off easily , other areas seem ok and the rubber is still well adhered to the gold

Local fitter apparently been doing floors for 20 years…that must have been his prison term!

. I asked him why the underlay had turned to powder he said he didn’t know!! 20 years eh?!

Any one here have any idea what causes this disintegration after only a couple of weeks without footfall?

    Could be a manufacturer fault
