What method do you use to test moisture in solid floors? I have always used a hygrometer left to record over 24 hours. Maybe i am a bit set in my ways but it is something i have always trusted.
We use a hygrometer, but you are meant to take daily readings over 3 consecutive days after fixing it to the floor (72 hours minimum) according to Karndean and Amtico. 24 hours will not give a satisfactory test and will produce a low reading usually.
Drill and plug (obviously if there's no pipes) you get an accurate reading in about an hour but Strictly speaking its should be read after 72 hours Same with a box then you take daily readings until the results stabilise
So potentially weeks spacey? Noooo way am I leaving my bath sponge tamagotchi for that long... Ive had to rescue the poor thing put of a kitchen bin before
Thanks for the advice. I was asking as a company i contract to expect me to turn up and do a damp test in 5 minutes and get an answer!
How many days do you think you should spend damp testing floors for free? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
None it’s always chargeable, you get a quick mc reading for free a proper Rh% test is £30 a day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So what happens when the reading isn’t equilibrium. Do you go back and charge again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ive never charged for a damp test. I suppose its different with commercial. If the jobs not close, I just get the screed manufacturer to carry out a test for me.
Funny enough I’ve never had that issue, but no in that case I wouldn’t. And I knock it off the price of the job so it’s not free up front but it becomes so if I get the job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I knock the cost off the job price, but I charge up front that way I’m not losing money on 3 trips to and from a job I might not get but I hand over the readings if they ask for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
