    Yes mate.

But the company telling you that they want you to be say a NICF approved fitter is tend to be thinking they are getting a qualified fitter. After all NICF / FITA promote it as been qualified but to whos standard? there own made up one.

As we know, nicf master fitter/ approved , Q&A card etc is not a reconnised qualification. They should be doing a NVQ not a Q&A test.

AFTER they are qualified with a 'NVQ' then you do the Q&A or the NICF approved / Master fitter test to purely get your quality rated.

    Remember=

NVQ = Qualified and you work safety and to the standards
Approved fitter = I filled in some paperwork
Master fitter = Im a high quality fitter
Q&A = ...... ... still trying to work it out but i think its the same as Master fitter but split down and at a lower standard maybe????

Maybe that is how it should be done with the larger companys asking you to do the courses?. I would prefer that personally as there is plenty of people that are boarder line on passing NVQ, But they have been passed by FITA. Me failing them would cause me to probably have to take out dental insurance ( i have learnt to duck ) , joking aside , if they are not up to the standards then they will fail end of. The boarder line lads i would like to advice that i think they would benefit from a FITA / FloorSkills/ Amtico..... who ever's course. All training centers are there to help improve peoples skills, so i really dont care who does the training providing they benefit. ( we had a lad on a FloorSkills course today that we could not pass his NVQ as he didnt know about subfloor prep. Very quick learner tho and was impressing me all day long with how he had picked up what he had been shown. He told me himself that he could not believe how much he had learnt and he is with us for another 2 days yet!)

It would also work that i would be able to advice that person that passed to a high standard could jump the basic course done and go straight to advanced? or maybe i find there weak point is subfloor so i advice a basics subfloor course maybe and advance Vinyl?

BUT, it really does complicate things when a lot of people are doing NVQ's or training when they dont want to. Some people dont need training course, they are a head of most fitters, but you have others that should not be fitting flooring at all. But they have been doing it 30 years. There is a lot conflict there trying to tell a time served old boy that he is not very good at his job  Some people think having to restretch a carpet is normal and that the pattern running out is the carpets fault...... ;)
