I,ve noticed the drying out on felt back, particularly when uplifting old carpets.Could that be overcome by spraying the floor and the underside of the carpet? Iaslo agree about the spray being banned before long.
To be honest, I can't see spray being banned ever, and in 20 years of fitting, I've never had a call back due to it failing. I'm sure it does dry out over time, but usually the felt backed carpet wears out and is replaced before this has a chance to happen. Like Ted said, I always spray the carpet as well as the floor to provide good adhesion. As for the health implications, well, I don't know how many people have died because it, but I suspect Abu Hamza could count them on his fingers. If the fumes ever get to me, I go outside in the fresh air.....and have a fag!
It will be banned one day just like the other adhesives that have been banned. Or should i say it will be changed. There alot of adhesives you use that the manufactories have changed what is in them, you know thw adhesives that we all of a sudden say "its gone crap, it wasn't like this years ago LOL" Alot of screeds are now been changed also to teh new VOC standards. Some how spray has been getting missed for years.
