I've read that carpets are superior to laminate as they keep heat in and block noise out. My room is above a parking (I'm on first floor) so limiting the noise and cold that come in is important.

However I much prefer the style of laminate so would rather have that. If I go for a 12mm laminate and a good underlay, could I achieve the same protection I'd get from a carpet?

Plus, am I right in thinking that for hot summer days, carpet is worse as it retains heat?

Thanks in advance! Good vibes from London xx

Laminate will always be noisier than carpet. You could put done a accoustic mat and a good underlay which will help but you will always get reflective sound and transit sound with a hardfloor
