Is this laminate likely to be gassing of formaldehyde or toxic chemicals?

I think this person has got hold of some second hand Quickstep lagune without the plastic strip that goes between the boards,
that would be the only thing that would explain the gap,
as with buying second hand, you might have been better advised to buy new, older products used to have more chemicals in them,
before they realised these products give off gases over a long time and can cause sick building syndrome,
i would have thought newer products are more regulated.

I've seen some really cheap [crappy] laminate flooring that didn't have any laminate covering on the bevels of the board, can't remember the name but it was a generic snot cheap rubbish board to be honest, you had to look twice but defo no laminate covering on the bevel...this was 4-5 years ago...
