Avoid Karndean and Amtico at the minute the quality control is questionable at best, go to a local reputable company and get it supplied and installed by them it makes it so much more simple if anything goes wrong also they should be able to advise you on what to look at. Mflor, project floors and Expona have all been good from my experience.

  2. Thank you, Tarkett85, I have requested samples from Project Floors and Mflor, great wide planks too.

    Thank you.

Will you advise me of where I can get both of these brands at a reasonable price? Do you supply? Middle wood colour, textured. Anything good quality.

I’ve the whole house to do as my ex of over 5 years ago ransacked, stole anything of value and trashed my home whilst I was away. The insurance won’t pay due to my knowing who did it; the Police insist ‘it’s a domestic, recourse is civil court’ great. No help whatsoever. I would have thought it was a plain tresspass and burglary. But the Police do not want the work involved.

Any advice on where to purchase is welcome. I already have a fitter whose work looks top end lined up. He can’t compete with some of the Polyflor online suppliers for price at the moment. It must be dry back as I want it to last.

Word to the wise don’t buy it online, I know his prices may be higher but there’s reason for that most of what I’ve seen online is B grade or discontinued product which is why they’re cheaper, I would advise getting it through your installer.

  6. Is Bricoflor a trusted seller?

All online sellers? Are Bricoflor a trusted retailer?

  7. Also, what problems should I look out for? Due to my budgets I may have to shop around...

My advice would be if your flooring doesn't fall within your budget other than buying it off the net then hold out till you save enough to buy from a company.

What issues were you having mainly?

Mine lately has been crap edges and some planks you can see they are slightly thicker than others....terrible

I agree with Rugmunching, it’s not things you would be able to notice until it’s too late and if your installer loses time because of it you would lose money paying for wasted days.

Boards being out by 0.5mm to 1mm, thicker planks, awful burr etc.

Not in my experience, your installer should be able to contact them for an account.

No issues with karndean or Amtico a good LVT installer can't sort out on the job And definitely nothing that affects the wear or performance of the product when installed correctly

Nothing to do with a good fitter spacey

How are fitters supposed to deal with different thickness of planks???
Why should a fitter have to go to the lengths of rectifying poor cut planks aswell???

    Looking forward to this....

You mean nothing that can’t be sorted with a screwdriver and a knife and plenty of time. I hope you charge extra for sorting manufacturers defects out

That’s the point, the customer bears the brunt of manufacturer cock ups and builders being useless it’s all extra money and time most people haven’t got to spare, I would rather save them the pains and offer them something that has better quality control with less instances of extra expense.

    Exactly my point!

I don't mind the odd plank/tile that you have to 'modify' but the last few karndeans I've done in the knight tile have gave me nothing but grief and sore fingers. I'm not willing to sit there trimming the backing off 75% of a 45m2 job just to keep my gob shut on the forum incase a karndean rep might be looking over it

Had to wait near 4 wks for the flooring to be made by them aswell apparentlt because of some defect in what they already had.....by looks of things they sent me the defect stuff anyway!
