The quality of ply in the Philippines is excellent the only trouble is they are not affiliated with the FSC, I have for a while now been trying to get Merbau wood mosaic panels made up out there and shipped into the UK to no avail. Which is very unfortunate as they have an abundance of Merbau or as its more commonly known Ipil Lipil tree over there, I have found 3 lumber yards that are able to make the panel to UK spec including moisture content and all are whiling to make it and ship it door to door. So Matt any ideas on this as to how to get the FSC accreditation. They do have their own forestry controls which are very strict for example all pine trees are protected by law and anyone caught felling a pine tree carries a liftime sentence in jail, unless you go through the correct channels and thats very difficult as my father in law found during his time as head baranguy captain same as our head councilor for the local area. And this was because of a tree just round the corner from his place which is smack in the centre of the road, yes thats right they had to build the road round it so split both lanes round the tree, which happens to be on a blind bend at the summit of a hill. It caused so many accidents and was 3 years before they were given permission to fell it.
