New slab preparation, how far do you go?

    Evening,

I was wonder what prep you do for new slab, be it anhydrite or cement. Forget the humidity factor, I more curious about top-layer of slab for prep, for example is everyone use a copper-disc to sand anhydrite slab before prime screed etc or are people grinding? Are you treating anhydrite and cement slabs different? and if so how?

Insights very much appreciated. Sharing good practice, helps.

We all (or most) know it should be ground, by us or others. Then double primed, and latex. For me any latex.
However, I have fitted hundreds of units on new build, no grinding, single prime, green bag, ultra floor, or whatever is on 'special' that week.
    No problems.
I think the biggest problem is moisture. I have seen issues with that.

I grind anhydrite, dpm and screed.
New slabs showing under the 75% I always run a str over it to smooth it off before priming and screeding.
I've just got into this habit now.

I nearly always steer clear of new builds with builders because whenever I explain a DPM is required they always complain about money.. but maybe that's a welsh thing :D Amount of time wasted on 'short-cut' builders I cannot time you. Whilst we are mentioning dpm, prime, screeds.. what rates for labour are you managing to get? Currently I get £2pm prime, £4 screed and £5 dpm

You get a good rate for priming
I get that for 2 coat dpm!
    Screed is @ £6m2

Guess my m2£ for priming comes from the screed m2£

£2 pm aint alot especially if you consider its a flat rate for all sized rooms including small. @Rug if you're getting 6 for screed our rates virtually match bar DPM.. I don't understand why so cheap. DPM for me takes longer than screeding and destroys a roller head depending on the DPM.

Those are mad rates. I can`t believe any one still pays for primer, and £2!. On labour only i`m lucky to get £2 for prime & latex.
£5 for dpm is also one of the best rates ive ever heard of.
What do you get for install ?

Are you a member of the Harrods flooring group :D
I was on £5m2 for screed for a long time then did a few jobs for a new shop that had started up just doing wood/lvt and they gave me a sheet of their rates and it stated prime & screed rate incorporated so I thought sod it ill put my screed rate up with the other shops.

I can't believe you lot are so cheap on DPM, it's time consuming.

Because I'm a one man band I have little over-heads and don't have take on work to keep boys going. Rather I can pick and choose. My favourite work are commercial projects which have penalty rates for going over completion date, the rates here are gold :D

Are you saying you get paid £800 to prime a 400 m2 commercial job? Where are you working? Monaco? Don’t tell me they supply the roller sleeves too? FairPlay to you.

Also, do you supply the primer in that price or is that labour only?
