Ply joins showing through Karndean

I guess it's tough for him. How is he going to know if the I dependant is any good. Probably lost all faith in the flooring industry after thinking he was originally getting a decent service but only to be let down.

Just phone the shop up and I'm sure they will sort it out for you

 

This thread is what's wrong with the flooring game.

People go to shop believing they're going to get a better job but very often isn't the case. Companies like Amtico/karndean will say what it takes to sell the product. We all know that. People go online to see how much they should be paying for a given product and then expect the shop/fitter to match it. So straight away they don't want it as they're not making the usual mark up. But instead of saying no and sticking to their guns, they take it on and that's when it usually bites you on the arse.

Also totally disagree with customer/fitters being able to slag other guys work off without knowing all the facts. This poor guy has to go back into the job and put it right but now the customers probably knows more than the 'approved' fitter.

Why when people go and buy a fridge/dishwasher will they research what's best for the budget, energy etc but when it comes to flooring and all want a certain name, not what suits the budget. There are loads of cheaper products out there that will give the same finish as most of what's being sold.

Sorry for going on but should have done a bit more research before hand.

 

Karndean back up stand sales. The more stands you buy, the higher up the league table you go, it's irrelevant on how much you chuck through.
So your either a bronze, silver, gold or platinum account based on stand placements within the stores

 

I digress but There's a certain shop near me which is a karndean platinum retailer. He says his fitters are platinum fitters which is a load of rubbish as we know but he basically frightens the customers into going with him through his spiel.

Getting an independent karndean fitter to check the work is easier said than done , where do you find them? As I said earlier the last thing I want to be doing is posting on this forum but the help and advice given is most welcome

With regard to the poster who mentioned cost and trying to get a bargain this is not the case with us we paid a lot of money to get this installed and with that would expect a premium finish otherwise I could have got a time served carpenter friend to fit it and much lower than what we paid and bought the parts online and the frightening thing is he would have most probably installed it better than the so called karndean installer
