    Hi,
Thanks for this forum and all the comments and advice that some of the regulars post, massively appreciated. Especially Spacey, Dazlight and merit!

Hoping for a little up-to-date advice to make sure I select the best current PLY option to lay glue down 4mm LVT on.
Hopefully will help others looking around as well of course.

I'm covering approx 95sqm so really want to 'do it once, do it right'

I have insulated between my suspended joists and have chipboard laid over so far.
I've got a couple of builders helping me, they've done flooring before but want to ensure they use the best methods and supplies (which they're happy to go with).

So, from what I've read so far on this incredibly helpful forum is,

Flooring grade - Is a must for a good result. Is already prepped to be glued on (PERHAPS).
Standard ply - Avoid as too many variations, imperfactions to lay LVT on.
Marine ply - Overkill, salt impregnated for marine use so overkill for floors.
WBP - (Water Boil Proof) Made for external use

Sound like 5.5mm is minimum depth.

The different Flooring grade ply options seem to be:
FG1 - Seems to be the best quality around at the moment BUT most expensive
SP101 - Used to be good a few years ago but now a bit rubbish and unreliable.
PARAPLY SC117 - Haven't seen much about it but seems to be inbetween price-wise?

    Quality ply should be stamped.
Have also seen some hardwood options mentioned:
    Malaysian ply
    Birchwood ply

Any words of wisdom gratefully recieved, I'm leaning towards SC117 ?

    Many thanks, Adam.

    Hi,

Just checked it's actually Nordikka 2.55mm, 0.55mm wear.

Seemed a bit thinner than some but has lifetime guarantee for domestic.

You'll also have to excuse a semi-repeat post that you also answered as I thought it might be a bit more more visible and was after some feedback asap.

(can't post whole link though as I'm new to the forum)

Thought adding on the end of this thread might help others the ply conversation though.

    Cheers.

Interesting to hear SP101's pulled ahead again.

Is SC117 out of the running?

Wife's saying we're probably selling next year or so don't sweat the quality the the ply it but I'd still rather not stitch ourselves or others up in the short term.

Never used it. I just use SP101. Did my log store in it and still nothing wrong with it after years of rain

Sp101 is great quality. Your looking for a class 3 plywood basically. There’s plenty other good options. Jewsons do a flooring grade plywood.
You cant go wrong with sp101 if your concerned
