Never really had that problem, either it never comes up 12mm thick or when the runner gets fitted it compresses the underlay. But the finish is always neat
I fit for someone else and do my own stuff too, keep myself busy all the time, also do hard flooring but a bit slower at that,am learning about wood now too
well worth doing wood as long as you do it right, although that can put people off when you give them the price.
Seems a lot more can go wrong with wood though,I have only coloured and oiled and sanded so far but it's quite satisfying at the end
yep loads that can go wrong, although if done bang on to BS you won't have any comebacks that should affest you.
Kevin, nothing hard about it. Its just knowing the 'basics' of correct preparation . Like all floorcoverings, preparation is the key. Once shown the correct way its easy. It amazes me how many people dont understand the preparation side of things. As above, get the prep right the fitting is easy. (obviously you need to know the fitting side also, but if the prep is not right then the rest of the job wont be right)
I always take time on my prep,i have always made sure the lads i've taught to get their prep perfect. If you care about the prep you usually find they care about the fitting too
that's where you earn your money on the prep, amazes me that it's so hard to explain to some customers.
I am new to the forum and am looking for a flatweave runner fitter. You seem to be exactly what I am looking for but do the forum rules allow me to contact you directly to discuss this further? If not, I assume I have to to the Carpet/textile forum and ask for a fitter there?
