I did think about chucking down 2 or 3 bags of rapid down, then just crack on with the floor lol Been looking a 3 phase grinders today. Problem is, there is no power on site, so it will have to run off a geni.
The triple head one, is what i`ve been looking at hiring. The cost of the machine is not too bad, but then there are the leads and the tooling, plus the geni on site is not adequate to run it. Like the idea of the sit on !!
This is the one that i`ve had confirmed, Description Price Hire of DFG500 3 phase floor grinder £360.00 p/wk 2 x Diamond grinding plate (paint removal and general grinding) £120.00 ea 2 x PCD grinding plate (removal of patchy leveling compound) £190.00 ea 3 x 3 phase ex lead £30.00 ea p/wk Delivery to Portsmouth £125.00 each way.
I was looking at one of these in December. Grinding disc 230mm (3 discs) Rotating speed 450-1680 rpm HP motor:5.5HP / Inverter : 5.5KW Voltage 220-240V single phase Weight 165kg(plus weight 30kg)
Looks good, but thats a 3 phase plug in the pic, and the spec says 240v. I`ve been doing more and more of this type of thing lately, and from what I hear, if you want a decent machine, it needs to be 3 phase 415v Maybe if I get this job, I will know more.
Quite possibly. I`ve never done any shot blasting though, so here is what we did. I hired this and this and took some help First pass finishing to this It took three hard, long days. Its nasty, heavy, dusty, horrible work, and i`m aching like a bitch. My lad, however, got home, jumped in the shower, packed up the van, and has gone fishing for the whole bank holiday !
That reminds me of 40 years worth of bourneseal on a wood floor.... What you putting down? and what about expansion joints?
I think there day joints. I had f-ball write up a spec, and they said rake out, and use Stopgap 460. It`s Gerflor Gti, so not stuck down anyway.
