Have you got any potential jobs in the pipeline or you intending on subbin first?

Your best bet is to mix it up with subbin whilst getting your reputation rolling.

Do you do all flooring (lvt/wood etc) or just carpets/ vinyls?

Yes just planning on subbing to shops etc at first to get me going. I have got some work i can get off people yes. I fit near enough everything yes which i also a bonus. Wood isnt my strongest point or im not the quickest at it but i can do it if that makes sense.

You don't have to be the quickest, aslong as the customers see you are neat & tidy with attention to some detail that other floorlayers skip because they're in a rush.

Sounds like you're on the right route, it isn't as daunting as you are imagining, all you do is do the best job you can and your work will speak for itself

All I'd say is don't be tempted to take on something you not 100% on as that job (if it goes tits up) could go against you further down the line with potential work....you know that already anyway!

Aslong as your work is spot on and you know what you are doing especially when it comes to the subfloors such is gypsum/laitance etc and knowing the correct method of prep then you'll be on the right path.

Seen loads go self employed for it to blow up in their face and have to go back on the books because they didn't do their proper homework.

Yes it’s the right time if you do a good job. Most shops are looking for good fitters. It can be a pain finding them. If you mix it up and do your own work you can build up jobs and earn good money.

January has always been a slow period for us.
I`ve just heard last week, that all of our commercial work has been pushed back to May, due to the current climate.
Its pretty worrying if I am honest.

I have found subbie work for the lads, for Jan and some of Feb.
If your saying what I think you are though, I would be up for some of that

No rental. 40' container, buried in the ground, with charcoal filtration. ;)
