has anyone looked into whether this product could be used beneath a wood floor? looks stable enough and would help sort the age old problem of underlay beneath wooden floors.

no it cant mate. Only if Foating over it so you will end up putting underlay down on top anyway.

what a shame would have been a great selling tool for painted/oily floors much cheaper than blasting. :(

Its because its not as strong as a real wood. Any moister difference between the flooring and the smartfloor and the real stuff will rip it apart.

At the training center i have a 1mx1m sheet of 12mm mdf that had a solid wood glued to it with a MC difference of 2% only. It has turned into a hump back bridge! Never underestimate the power of real wood.

yeah can have enough pressure in solid to take out a supporting wall i've seen it happen. although wouldn't a quality engineered product or bamboo be suitable they're much moree stable?

Yes providing the MC is kept within 2%.

But we have no control over the consumer and how they will treat the room the floor is fitted. because of this we cant recommend the product.

You all know what its like. You fit floor and heating is running at say 22c with a RH of 55%. They go on holiday for a cruise around the med for 4 weeks and turn there heating off!

The floor starts to take in moister................. you get the idea !
