I've been using spray adhesives for 25 years now and wondered about the possible long term health risks, I dont go mad with it but there are times I do worry, have any of you guys had any issues with health and spray glue? do you wear respirators? (I've yet to see a domestic carpet fitter in my area ever wear a mask to spray the carpet/underlay down) again, any advice greatly received.

Never wore a mask when fitting carpet. I’m not sure if they can help with spray adhesive fumes. Rapid pu Dpms are also really bad and probably loads of other products that we are being sold to use.

I've heard there are two different types of mask, one is your cheap dust mask which is apparently worse for you than not wearing a mask (?) as all the particles of fumes stick to the outside of it and so you actually end up breathing in more fumes overall and then we had the 3M Cartridge masks which we were told by our boss where fine but you had to replace the cartridges at least once a month and they weren't cheap and they used to also really cut into your face and not seal well unless you were clean shaven which I'm not ever.

Spray adhesives are suspected of causing cancer and in some country's they are banned all together

A mask isn't going to help us now

I know mate..... I've researched Dicholomethane and the solvents we use and its scary....... 25 years ago the cans used to say "possible link of a cancerous effect" or suchlike but now they just have the big cancer warning sign on the back of the tin..... scary
