When you say only L shape bonded, do you mean two walls ?

That's the correct method for a perimeter fix, Rob.

Yes, 2 walls but as a 'L' shape. Not opposite walls.

i presume the theory is that it can give in the opposite direction to the walls fixed ?

yes. But it will now move twice as much in that direction. Hence i would advice not sticking at all and loose lay. The vinyl can move in all directions then.

As discussed above, you can fully bond. But then there is the issue of removing if it was damaged or just worn out. The subfloor prep would need doing again etc.

pain in the arse you mean ! lets say its a screed covered in old adhesive. You need to scrap back or shot blast etc. So much easier supplying and fitting and maybe subfloor prep. But throw in uplifting old subfloors... nasty.

Amen to that. I've no problem fully sticking a vinyl. Loose lay one in a kitchen and watch the washing machine do it's thing with the vinyl. Stick it down and then handle any future sub-floor prep when the time comes.

I have had a couple distort on larger areas , hence sticking larger pieces .
Double sided dosent hold very well

I have to be honest and say I generally either perimeter fix with d/sided tape or loose lay and to my knowledge have not had any issues. I would admit that I prefer cutting in when the vinyl is stuck....particulary on the cheaper 'foamy' stuff.

However on large areas or kitchen diners where there are table and chairs I would stick all over to prevent rucking up under the chairs. If you are sticking all over the floor has to be spot on and unfortunately not every customer wants to pay for ply to be fitted etc hence why every job is not done like that.
