Yeah I've done that when I've ran short. In theory it should stay tacky for ever? @spacey. I only use f46 that's all we buy at the shop
I've used it a lot but Mapei is a lot better but unfortunately cost a bit more. I tend to use Karndean glue for Karndean though as I just put in on the order ! Same with every thing though as long as adhys are used correctly & for the correct reasons ie. temps & what the areas use for ect. There shouldn't be any problems Yoru issue is defo with the screed having a laitance so giving the surface a weak pull off strength ! As I said a quick polish with a buffer will sort it out
I'm priming my latex alot before glueing now. Makes a huge difference even on ply. Or fiddly areas like spacey said I dry fit or even template.
I don't get the theory behind priming before glueing? Surely if the glue isn't sticking to it then why would the primer be any better? Can anyone explain in to me? Surely the primer just comes up with the glue?
exactly the same reason for priming before screeding tbh a correctly primed floor gives a perfect 'key' for a product to stick to.
I machined some 300 before 46 with some Spacia still pulled glue off the floor.Last week machined, primed & 46 with some beveline different gravy;glue was on the back of the tile & still on the floor .
But what if I prime a floor then glue onto that and something goes drastically wrong, i do t know of any manufactures reccomending this process? Arnt they just gonna say I've not followed correct instillation procedures?
A diluted primer will soak into the latex slightly. A lot of manufacturers recommend priming ply before glueing out. Don't use the balls one, use something like ardex p51 or similar. Any issues ask Matt as I know he also likes to prime before glueing .
Agree with the not using p131 really dislike that on anything but a porous open screed, much prefer Ardex p51 mustard that stuff
p51 for me too top gear But you need to use any primer properly If its porous then diluted (how much depends on the porosity) non porous, then its neat
I've been having the same problem with 46, I've primed the screed before gluing, same thing happens, buffed off the screed (spacey top tip)that really helps but it can still come up and stick to the tile, so I switched to the Mapei ps and buffed the floor and it's great didn't come off the floor Hardly at all, I don't use the f46 on anything but ply jobs only where it works ok, try not to put the tile in with too much downward pressure so if needed it comes up it's not grabbing as much. IMO f46 isn't what it used to be I did my mothers kitchen hall and wc 5 years ago and never had a problem didn't buff off screed also.
Have you tried giving the screed a extra day to dry I use to have this problem but found giving it a extra day not always possible but did work
I use 300 then F46 at times and not had this problem. Like post above though I tend to leave a day between screeding and fitting.
Little tip guys, keep the hardboard inserts from Van Gough etc as these can go on the F46 and peels back off without setting on it if you are trying to get a size
