Looking for some recommendations on underlay for engineered wood (fully bonded ) Most cases we use plywood as subfloor but in this case it’s not an option. We have used rubber underlay before and stuck it to concrete and then fully adhered the flooring on top. This project has old floorboards that have been sanded so want to keep them in the best condition as possible. So what undelay would you recommend ?
Thought of that not particularly worried about bonding to the subfloor as there is many options was just more using fball b95 on top of underlay to adhere the wood ? Sure it’s always been regupol underlay but is is getting like everything else now super expensive.
Use an acoustic slatted mat undelay and gun the 600ml sausage adhesive into the slats. http://www.rewmar.co.uk/products/rewmar-250-accoustic-underlay-1m-x-16-5m/
Just read the post again and see that you want to avoid adhering to the floorboards!! If the floorboards are so good that they want to preserve them why are they laying an engineered wood floor?
Go with a click system if it’s t&g don’t bodge it needs ply and gluing down the underlays are crap and a t&g shouldn’t be floated that’s what the click systems are for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Speak to wood floor sales in epsom. They may have a system you can use. I can’t see a fully bonded/floated system working tho. Wood needs to be fixed/glued or allowed to expand and contract when floated.
c The click systems were designed by the Swedish company Vallinge aimed at the DIY & non skilled installers to float wood and laminate floors. Engineered T&G floors were also designed to be floated or fully bonded and have been for many years without issue. Underlays are not all crap(some are crap), they are of varying standards and offer different functionalities(thermal, acoustic, moisture protection...). Choose the correct underlay for the installation and it should be fine. Solid T&G should not be floated.
