Hi Damien Glad you found this site. I did the BWFA wood course with you. Glad things are moving on for you. Prices vary. You need to take into consideration the materials cost, wear and tear on tools, hire costs and labour costs. It's not an easy thing to get right but you are well below the normal pricing structure
As far as the restoration side of things is concerned, I have discovered that you cannot do floor sanding quotations without visiting the premises and actually seeing the floor. Even if the potential client says “I just want a rough idea” my advice is - Don’t do it, the variables involved in this business makes it easy to get it VERY wrong and that person will forget the “rough” part of their request and will just remember the ballpark figures you gave them over the phone. So when you turn up what are you looking for? You start by dividing the floors into two categories, floor in reasonable condition that show wear plus some scratches, and floors that are in poor condition, needing repairs or very heavy sanding. In the case of the former – happy days! Both Hardwood and Softwood respond well to sanding and the client will be delighted. However, in the event of the latter you need to consider the value of the floor versus the cost of sanding it. Bob www.floorfixer.co.uk
